Dependency And Indemnity Compensation

Spouses, children and parents of veterans who die from a service-connected injury or disease may be entitled to benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. In certain cases, benefits may also be available if a veteran who is totally disabled from a service-connected injury or illness dies for any reason after 10 years of disability.

At the Law Office of Annette Rutkowski LLC, I offer a free initial consultation to surviving family members of disabled veterans to discuss which benefits you may be eligible for. With offices in Indianapolis and Lafayette, I represent clients throughout central, western and southern Indiana.

What Is Dependency And Indemnity Compensation (DIC)

Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) provides monthly tax-free payments to surviving spouses, dependent children and dependent parents of veterans who die as a result of a service-connected injury or disease. These benefits would also be available if the veteran dies for any reason other than willful misconduct after 10 years of total disability for a service-connected injury or disease. In addition to income benefits, dependents may be entitled to benefits such as health care, burial expenses, education and home loans.

To qualify for DIC, a surviving spouse, child or parent must meet eligibility requirements. During your free initial consultation, I can help you determine if you are eligible and which benefits you may receive. A lawyer's help can ensure you receive the compensation you need and deserve.
