Katie joined Annette Rutkowski in July 2021. Katie welcomes calls if you have questions about whether you or your loved one should be filing for disability, or if you have a claim in process, at any stage of adjudication, and have questions. Katie also has a passion for legal accuracy and pursuing cases beyond the hearing level when decisions are fraught with legal error. Prior to combining forces with Annette, Katie spent nearly 10 years as an attorney advisor at the Indianapolis Office of Hearing Operations. She worked closely with the Administrative Law Judges ("ALJs") to write timely and legally defensible draft decisions pursuant ALJ instructions covering a wide range of issues, procedural and substantive, in the determination of disability for Title II and Title XVI claims, including cases remanded by the Seventh Circuit and Federal District Courts. As an attorney advisor, she acquired comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the Social Security Regulations, Social Security Rulings ("SSRs") and Agency Policy (HALLEX and POMS), for Title II and Title XVI claims. Resolve unique, complex, and technical issues in Title II and/or Title XVI cases. Thoroughly analyzed file and tied the totality of evidence in the longitudinal record; insightfully, Katie analyzed extensive medical files and synthesizes the diagnostic imaging, objective clinical findings, physical examinations, medical expert opinions, treating source statements, and subjective statements by claimants in order to ascertain relevant issues and facts and insightfully apply the law, including the various factor analyses set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations in assessments of medical and non-opinions, as well as, evaluation of pain and "credibility." Katie also served as the continuing Legal Educational Coordinator for the office and submit applications for accreditation for the attorneys and ALJs to obtain Continuing Legal Educational credits for in-house training.
